Making Cities Resilient 2030
May 6 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am

The Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) initiative responds to the growing need to boost resilience at the local level. Crises such as COVID-19 and climate change remind us that managing disaster risk is everyone’s business, in which local governments play an instrumental role. Building resilience of local governments through robust risk governance structures and processes is a critical step to ensure that impacts are mitigated and measures are taken at the most localised and disaggregated level.

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Regional Office for Europe, in partnership with ICLEI Europe – Local Governments for Sustainability, invite you to this regional webinar, which sets in motion a decade for city resilience through the implementation of the MCR2030 initiative across the Europe and Central Asia region.

This event brings to light cities at various stages of their resilience journey. The city experiences aim to showcase how, through robust risk knowledge, planning and implementation, city resilience can be strengthened in a spirit of peer learning and partnership central to the MCR2030 initiative.

Changing emission standards, environmental and public concerns, increased road accidents and new technology are driving the biggest change automotive has ever seen. Delivering the sustainable, consumer loved, and actively safe vehicle takes time and money, but you only have so long before another competitor wins market share.

OEMs must make technological leaps in both electric vehicles and more-efficient internal combustion engines, whilst advancing autonomous tech to achieve zero road fatalities.

As this year’s Reuters Events Car of the Future 2021 we will showcase how OEMs are building the vehicle of the future to create a safer and sustainable world. This meeting is the one place for all your automotive tech news, updates and benchmarks, featuring the most impressive line-up in history!

Webinar: How to integrate autonomous vehicles with public transport
Jun 21 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Via Webinar

Driverless transport isn’t simply a faraway dream. In fact, it’s already happening in innovative cities like Arlington, Texas, US and Kelheim, Germany.

Cities and transport authorities across the globe are using intelligent booking, routing and tracking software to seamlessly integrate autonomous vehicles (AVs) with existing transportation infrastructure across a wide variety of transport needs without sacrificing safety, equity or efficiency.

When deployed as part of public transport, AVs are more sustainable and accessible; and when designed and deployed efficiently, AVs can provide a useful service for riders, while enabling operators and automakers to maximise their autonomous investment.

Hear from our panel as they discuss these innovative partnerships in detail.

Speakers:

  • Ann Foss, Principal Planner at the City of Arlington
  • Jan Eller, Operations Principal at Via
  • Meghan Grela, Autonomous Lead at Via

Join us to learn how to convene the right partners, secure funding, and start deploying AVs to meet real transport needs in your community.
