1-year Master’s in Urban Digital Transformation and Innovation: Governance and Economics of Cities

Gain an in-depth insight into how digital technology and innovation reshape our cities and inform urban policy. From using big data to manage traffic flows to employing the Internet of Things (IoT) applications to manage energy consumption in public places, technology has become an inherent aspect of running our cities.

The Urban Digital Transformation and Innovation master track is one of four trajectories in the MSc in Urban Management and Development. This course focuses on the long-term effects of using technology to change the city and trains participants to develop a critical approach to governing urban digital innovation and transformation. It is organised in two parts, allowing students to gain insights into both socio-economic and socio-technological transformation in the first part and to further specialise in one of the two overarching topics – economic development or algorithmic governance, privacy and ethics, in the second part.
