Nextbike group has announced the acquisition of nextbike Polska S.A., a Polish bike-sharing provider, making it one of Europe’s largest bike-sharing operators, according to the company.
The merger brings the two companies together under the nextbike group, strengthening its position in key European markets, including France, Poland and Belgium. The move aims to enhance nextbike group’s reach and service offerings, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe.
Meik Bruhs, CFO and Managing Director of nextbike, told Cities Today that the acquisition will enable the company to provide cities with more advanced technology solutions, supporting the integration of bike-sharing into broader public transport systems.

“We are committed to improving the future of bike-sharing as an integral part of urban mobility,” Bruhs said. “This expanded portfolio will allow us to offer cities enhanced hardware, software, and operational services.”
While the merger expands nextbike’s market presence, Bruhs emphasised that the company’s tendering processes will remain locally focused. This approach is intended to maintain strong relationships with the cities and communities served by nextbike.
Bruh added that the company’s continued integration with multimodal Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platforms will provide cities with additional options for travel planning, allowing for easier connections between bike-sharing systems and other transport modes.
“Our bikes are already available in real-time and integrated into several MaaS platforms, enabling seamless intermodal travel planning for urban transport operators,” he added.
In addition to its focus on technology and urban mobility, the provider aims to support local economies by working with businesses and generating employment opportunities in the communities it serves.
