Between now and 2030, urban areas are expected to triple in surface, and by 2050, 68% of the population will reside in cities. To remain sustainable, liveable and competitive, cities need well-trained urban managers in policy development and good governance. The 12-month MSc in Urban Management and Development at IHS covers essential topics such as socio-spatial dynamics in urban planning, climate resilience and sustainability, urban governance and economics, and equitable access to sustainable land and housing.

The programme, structured across four Master tracks, equips students with the analytical tools to address pressing urban challenges in their home countries, the curriculum emphasizes forward-thinking policy-making and incorporates comparative approaches to explore global urban trends, policies, and issues. This framework enables students to deepen their expertise within a specific field while gaining a comprehensive perspective on sustainable urban management.

Scholarship highlight

Holland Scholarship: € 5,000 partial scholarship awarded to four Non-EU/EEA students per year based on academic excellence.

Early Bird tuition waiver: €2000 tuition fee reduction for fees submitted by May 15th, 2024.​

*The NL scholarship awardees are welcome to combine their scholarship with the Early Bird waiver amounting to a total financial relief of €7000.
