Bolt adds ride-hailing to ChatGPT

Bolt has integrated its ride-hailing service with ChatGPT, allowing users to check journey options and obtain price estimates through the AI assistant.

The integration has been introduced across Bolt’s markets simultaneously. The company said it is the first ride-hailing service available through ChatGPT to customers in the EU, UK, Switzerland and Norway.

Users can provide their journey details within ChatGPT to see an estimated price, compare route options and check the expected driver arrival time. The service can also suggest a pick-up point.

Customers are then transferred to the Bolt app to complete the booking and payment. Bolt said it plans to enable payments within ChatGPT later this year, although it has not announced a date.

Paddy Partridge, Senior Vice President at Bolt, said the integration reflects the growing use of AI tools for planning activities and journeys.

“People don’t plan their evening in five different apps anymore. A lot of that planning happens in one conversation with AI now,” he said. “For years, booking a ride meant opening a dedicated ride-hailing app. As more everyday interactions take place through AI, we think requesting a ride should be just as straightforward: ask, see the price, and go.”

The company cited Accenture’s Consumer Pulse Research 2025, which found that 80 percent of surveyed travellers used AI tools for travel-related purposes. More than half said they would be willing to allow AI to manage their travel arrangements fully.

The research covered 18,214 consumers in 14 countries and was conducted in January 2025.

At launch, the integration acts primarily as an additional route for customers to find and compare Bolt journeys. The transaction itself remains within the company’s existing app.

The move follows the addition of third-party services to ChatGPT, enabling users to interact with participating companies without beginning their search in a separate website or app.
