European Urban Resilience Forum 2025: Accelerating Resilience Action
25–27 June | Rotterdam, The Netherlands
From 25 to 27 June, Rotterdam will host the 12th edition of the European Urban Resilience Forum (EURESFO), a key event for cities and regions driving climate adaptation and urban resilience across Europe. Organised by ICLEI Europe and the European Environment Agency, and co-hosted by the City of Rotterdam, EURESFO continues to serve as a central platform for local leaders, experts, and practitioners to exchange solutions for building more just, climate-ready communities.
This year’s forum will focus on accelerating action across six interconnected challenges, including climate justice and inclusion, responses to extreme weather and compound crises, nature-based solutions, financing resilience, political governance in polarised contexts, and the use of data and evidence to drive implementation.
A highlight of the event will be the presentation of the 2025 Local Sustainability Award, which honours exceptional leadership in sustainable urban development. Selected from a competitive field of over 50 applicants, the three finalists—Grenoble, Vilnius, and the Barcelona Metropolitan Area—exemplify innovation and impact. From transforming school streets into safe, green spaces, to revitalising housing for tens of thousands of residents, to embedding the Sustainable Development Goals into planning processes, these cities showcase diverse pathways toward a climate-neutral future.
EURESFO 2025 promises to inspire and catalyse collaboration across all levels of government.
