The World Council on City Data (WCCD), which is pioneering the first set of globalised metrics on city service delivery, is entering into a formal partnership with Cities Today.
“In my capacity as President and CEO of the WCCD and Director of the Global Cities Institute (GCI) at the University of Toronto, I am very pleased to be joining the editorial advisory board of Cities Today–the preeminent global publication connecting city leaders,” said WCCD President and CEO Professor Patricia McCarney.
“From the perspective of the WCCD, the common focus on sustainable urban development and promoting partnerships between the public and private sectors aligns with our strategic goal of growing the WCCD global network of cities, national governments, international agencies, corporate partners, academia and the media.
“With our extensive multidisciplinary and international group of Senior Fellows, the GCI is perfectly aligned to collaborate with Cities Today through innovative research and city data analytics. We look forward to sharing our unique insight and expertise around standardised city data–specifically around how it can help to shape the sustainable, resilient, smart and prosperous cities of tomorrow.”
The WCCD, launched in May 2014, coordinates city data to ensure a consistent and comprehensive platform for cities to measure performance. It has created the first ever certification system and established ISO 37120 as the first International Standard on indicators for cities.
Cities Today Editor-in-Chief Richard Forster said: “Data is something that we continually discuss with cities— how to collate data across departments; how to analyse it; and how to employ it for better management of service delivery. We are delighted that Patricia and her colleagues at the WCCD will lend their expertise in this field to our editorial advisory board as we continue to partner with the leading city organisations.”
