Cities Today and the Smart City Expo World Congress, an industry-leading event on smart cities, hosted by Fira de Barcelona, have announced the signing of a media partnership.

Under the partnership agreement all delegates attending the Smart City Expo, which is due to take place in Barcelona from 18-20 November 2014, will receive a copy of Cities Today magazine, which includes interviews with ten city CIOs in its latest issue.

“Being the premier global event for smart urban solutions and technologies, it makes perfect sense for us to partner with the leading publication on these issues,” said Ugo Valenti, Director of the Smart City Expo World Congress. “The names and figures that we already have confirmed, including over 50 mayors from around the world, point to the 2014 edition being the best-ever Smart City Expo World Congress.”

The Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) aims to define what smart cities are, what their challenges include and to examine which solutions and responses are most relevant while always keeping society and the public at the centre of the debate. This year’s event will play host to delegations from over 400 of the world’s cities, many of them at the very highest administrative level, including over 50 mayors.

The city of Barcelona is a pioneer in the development and management of smart city programmes and we are delighted to be a partner of the Smart City Expo,” said Richard Forster, Managing Editor at Cities Today. “This Congress has become a calendar event for city managers, the private sector, start-ups, researchers and all of the urban community to come together and share knowledge on the challenges and opportunities for cities.”

The Smart City Expo World Congress has become the industry leader in smart cities. Last year’s congress in Barcelona gathered more than 9,000 visitors, 160 companies, 300 city representatives and 3,055 delegates from countries around the world.
